Cozaar Cozaar (losartan potassium) can be prescribed by your doctor to lower blood pressure. This medicine prevents the blood vessels from constricting by affecting the hormone angiotensin II, therefore improving the blood flow. This drug can be combined with other drugs if your doctor thinks it is necessary. Never combine Cozaar with other drugs, such as diuretics (amiloride, spironolactone or triamterene), indomethacin, ketoconazole or troleandomycin, before previously discussing it with your doctor as the medicines mentioned above can increase, decrease or change the effects of Cozaar.

Cozaar has been reported to cause severe birth defects and even death in unborn babies if used by pregnant women. In order to avoid getting pregnant while taking this medicine you need to use at least two different methods of birth control. Insomnia, cough, dizziness, upper respiratory infection, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, stomach upset and diarrhea are the most common side effects. These side effects are usually mild and tend to go away after a few hours. If any of your side effects change in intensity or interfere with your everyday life inform your doctor as soon as possible.
